I was wondering if you could recommend some books on writing prompts?

Hi Matt.
I have been thinking about putting a zine together to give some of my poetry to friends. I went to Half Price Books on Capitol Hill to look for some zines to get ideas and I found two editions of your zines/chapbooks. I really enjoyed “To The Moon” (I believe that is the name of the first poem in one of the books). Excellent work.

Awesome, thank you!! I had no idea they were even there…good luck putting it together. There is a great place in SoDo where i get mine made called United Reprographics. They have a booklet making program so putting it together is really easy.

I am a writer living on Whidbey Island, in Coupeville in fact, where you’re coming soon as the presenter of a workshop.
When I read the description of your workshop, I was flabbergasted. I have recently published a book, SONG AND DANCE, which tries to make a case for bringing sound and rhythm back to contemporary poetry, having been unable to find it in any literary magazine or other venue for many, many moons now. But there you are, teaching it!
I’d like to send you a copy of the book before you come and get together then, as revolting (sic) poets on today’s scene. For me, the irritant was converted to a cause by reading the Best Poems of 2009 volume, assembled by David Wagoner. In all 75 poems, nary a single use of sound or rhythm. I try in the book to present my case through poems that not only make the case, but use the kind of sound and rhythm I’m advocating. I’d love to have your critique.

Matt: I am Dean of Faculty at a small middle school, and we are looking for an author to present to a group of ~56 students next week (yes, short notice) on Thursday morning, ~9:00-10:15 am. Any chance you’re available? You come highly recommended. These kids will be spending the whole week in project groups, focused on a variety of wildly divergent themes connected (literally or metaphorically) to the idea of “work”. We’re located near Green Lake in Seattle.

Hi Matt.
What is the protocol for sending information and finding out your fees and availability for doing a workshop next fall in Anacortes?
